Dr Aisling Kelly is a clinical psychologist with over 15 years’ experience of working in mental health services across a variety of settings and with children, their families and women who are in the perinatal period (pregnancy and in the early years following childbirth).
In her current NHS post, Aisling works in a Maternal Mental Health service as a Senior Clinical Psychologist and until recently was also a Senior Lecturer on a Psychology MSc programme.
Taking a broader compassion-focused frame, Aisling’s therapeutic approach principally integrates elements of systemic, narrative and cognitive behavioural therapies. Working in a trauma service, Aisling also uses EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy, an evidence-based therapy for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Aisling is also trained in Couples Therapy and working with grief and loss.
Aisling is passionate about centring social justice in her work, and working collaboratively with her clients to set meaningful and flexible goals, alongside creating space for all that emerges in the therapeutic work.
